Arriving very early for this “meating”, I killed time going around one of Baguio’s most popular tourist destinations- Mines View Park. After a few pictures with the Saint Bernard and checking out souvenirs, I headed out to a less touristy location – Kiwi’s Bread and Pastry shop. It’s a few steps away from the humongous building being constructed at the area.
Inside you also see imported stuff for sale – from Pretzels, chips and vegemite ( I think I saw one somewhere)
The interiors are simple and unpretentious. There is no common theme that binds the furniture. But then again, I’m here for the food. 🙂 There is also seating on the second floor but it was so warm there so opted for the ground floor.
While waiting for my friend, V, I ordered the Kiwi cake and the pasta with sauce made from walnuts, I think. Pardon my poor note taking skills. But yep, the sauce was made of a special blend of nuts, herbs and spices. Overall, it was a nice filling snack.

I enjoyed my cake too! The kiwi cake was a fun treat for my mouth. I particularly like the light, refreshing combination of flavors of kiwi fruit and strawberry. Nothing too sweet or overpowering. The combination of textures also was exciting. Check out the cross-section shot. Now imagine that inside your mouth! Yum!

The main purpose of our visit was to check out the Kiwi Breakfast Special (or something that sounds like that. You get the picture :)). For 400 pesos – you get a huuuuge serving ( by Philippine standards) of bacon, sausages, beef, eggs,tomatoes, bread, beans, butter and jam and coffee. This meal is meant to be shared! Very filling indeed. It’s available all day , by the way.

Feeling very hungry, V also ordered cream puffs.
And added Greek Salad — something I don’t mind eating the whole day. Dressing was superb! A perfect partner to a very meaty plate of breakfast.

Not sure what time they open but they do close at 7pm. That’s when the staff began bringing in the chairs signaling me and V to get going. Haha! A lot of the patrons come here for the bread ( a lot of them expats). The selection is similar to the photo below — or in my own words – Aklay selection ( who by the way. no longer does the buffet at the Log Cabin in Sagada. The Rock Inn now hosts his buffet). Quick info – V and I first met at the Log Cabin. So I think it’s safe to say we have similar taste in food and bread. I may not have taken some bread home with me like she did, but I do trust her taste.

Next on my list is their Tiramisu and other pastries. I heard good things about em! I only wish they weren’t so far away from where I live. The only thing that keeps me from coming here more often is the distance. Had they been closer to town, I’d be a permanent fixture!
